Two birthday cards

20130919-085253.jpg

These are two cards that I made for my second cousins 1st birthday. I stuck with stuff I already had, used some leftover papers, and tried to make the colours I used appropriate for a 1 year old. Ones going to be from me, one from my sister. Which do you prefer? I can decide – I like the button flower as that’s something different for me that I haven’t done before, but I kind of think that the overall look of the rabbit card works better.

In other news, my mums operation went well, she’s home now and her card made her cry ( in a good way!) she’s doing well so I feel really relieved.

Get well soon card

This is a card I’ve made for mum – she has an operation today and she is going to feel rubbish for a couple of months so I wanted to make her a get well card so she knows how much she means to me. I used the flower image as I felt that it was quite nice for the message I was trying to give. I hope she likes it…we have also bought her a bag of get well things – chocolate, books, magazines and tomato soup lol.

Hope you all like it

Engagement card

20130902-193216.jpg

This is an engagement card that I made for my sister and her boyfriend, who got engaged two days ago. She has asked me to be bridesmaid, which is a huge honour – me and my sister are like best friends, and I’m so pleased for her and her new fiancΓ©, who is also just like part of the family already.

Anyway, to return to the card, I wanted to make a simple card with a nice central I,age – something clean and tidy. I didn’t have any specific engagement / wedding material so I had to improvise and use what I had. I decided on a paper from my new paper pack, Wellington made by hallmark. I used a flower image, and entwined it so represent the engagement. I really like the result of this card – I could probably have done something lovely with specific stamps for engagements, but without spending any money I feel that this is a card that my sister will like and appreciate.

The writing on the message says ‘just for you with love’.

Hope you like it too πŸ™‚ xxx

My first challenge – seize the sketch

20130830-215135.jpg

Tonight I had to make a birthday card for my friend, and I saw the seizethesketch#2 on another bloggers post, and decided to give it a go – the first challenge I’ve decided to try as I liked the challenge layout, and it gave me so many ideas that could work with it.

I really enjoyed doing this as from the layout I got the idea in my head of how I wanted my card to be. I knew I wanted to focus on just using black and white as I like the contrast, and I decided to use an urban stamp that I got new today as I really like it – I seem to like anything to do with butterflies to be honest!

I am pleased with this card – if I’m being critical I think I would like to just alter tiny tiny bits, but i think that with every card i make! I appreciate any feedback that is given πŸ™‚ xxx

A well done card

20130829-085014.jpg

This is a card that I’ve made for my little sister – she got her GCSE results last week, and although she was disappointed she did really really well- unfortunately she didn’t quite get the grades to do her a chosen A levels at college, as she needed B grades instead of C, so she’s re-sitting. But still, she did well and I wanted to show her that m proud of her and thinking of her.

The card is again quite simple – I’m pleased with it -not sure if it needed a little extra something, but not sure what and where and so I decided not to go overboard – I didn’t want to spoil it by adding stuff it doesn’t need! It’s always quite difficult to balance when it needs more and when more becomes too much.

I’m hoping to walk to the craft shop today to get some new papers and materials – I’ve been looking forward to getting new bits for ages but have been waiting for pay day! Can’t wait πŸ™‚

Hello again…

20130826-104804.jpg

Hi all – it’s been 4 months since I’ve made any cards – I had my baby girl in may, and since then life has been great but very busy, and I just haven’t managed to make any cards. I also had a bit of a card making identity crisis – I made a card about a month ago which went completely wrong and so I took some extra time to think about the type of cards I want to make. I’ve just had a look through my old posts, from my first card to my latest card and actually, I’ve realised that I’ve come a long way since my first cards in january. I’ve got a long way to go, but I think card making and craft is just about enjoying the process and the journey and not trying to be ‘perfect’ and trying to be as good as some of the other amazing card makers on the blogs that I’ve seen. I’m still a beginner, and I want to enjoy making cards rather than doubting the end results.

So, after that bit of philosophy, here’s my latest card: it’s a birthday card for a 4 year old girl whose party we are at next week. I am really happy with this card. I like quite simple cards and so I tried to keep this card simple but effective, and the teddy bears are some embellishments that my mum bout me just after Rosie was born. I hope that the little girl it’s for will like this card, but either way I, pleased with the result! I’ve used some pink card bought from paper mill, and that’s about it!

I have got the bug again now and so am going to make my little sister a well done card next, as she did well with her GCSE results. Will post again when I’ve finished it πŸ™‚

A male card attempt

20130425-112634.jpg

I’ve made a card attempt more aimed at males as I haven’t made any cards for men..I’m quite pleased with it although I’m not sure my colouring is all that great. Still, will come n hand for a mans birthday πŸ™‚

A day overdue today, very fed up of waiting for baby! Trying to think of names too as we still haven’t decided anything definite – my favourites are Betsy, Hannah, Eva and Jenny I think although still very undecided!

Button birthday card

I made this card last night. I am struggling with ideas for embellishments and I like buttons at the moment so I decided to try something using buttons πŸ™‚

Still no sign of baby!

Black and white card

20130420-161349.jpg

I have just finished this black and white card – I used a new urban butterflies stamp which I love, and I have just kept it really simple using just black and white and not too much else. Overall i am really pleased with this card πŸ™‚

And yesterday my dad bought a card from me – the first one I have ‘sold’ to give to his sister for her birthday. I’ve given lots away but haven’t asked any money for them, but now in going to just ask for a tiny amount to go in a pot towards card materials as i seem to spend so much on things! So I have something in my pot now!

Delayed card

20130418-162157.jpg

Hi,
Sorry that I haven’t posted for a while, I have made a few cards but jus haven’t found time to bog them, which is strange as I’m not even working now that I’ve started maternity leave! However, my ‘nesting’ instinct has kicked in and so a lot of time is spent cleaning, including getting up at 2am a couple of times to give the house a tidy!

This card is one that I made for my basket of spare cards. I enjoy practicing with my stamps and pro markers, and was happy with the effect of this card – it seems to me like a more light hearted card.

I have bought a few bits from my local craft shop today too which I am looking forward to trying, and I bought a paper trimmer with my birthday money which has made making cards s much faster!

I’ve also found out more about a local card making class weekly which I’m hoping to go to next Tuesday unless baby comes (she’s due next Wednesday) in which case I will go to the class once I get into a routine with new baba πŸ™‚

Good things this week:
– having time to actually do things at home.
– being with Amelia – today we have visited my nana, done some child craft (painting pine cones)
– being able to cook fresh, healthy meals – we’ve had lots of healthy foods this week.
– getting closer everyday to meeting bump

Everything is generally good other than the general pregnanc aches pains and sleeplessness, which I’m hoping wont last too much longer!
